Sometimes, you need a llama

There is a point in a car's life when it is better suited for another job. My little Cavalier, although it has been quite the trooper for the past 200,000 miles, is better suited for a life more like this:

Do you know what the llamas are up there for? To haul the damn thing around when it dies and refuses to start again. My Cavalier needed a llama or two.

So, what do you do when your trusty steed is better suited for a life as a llama hauler? At what point do you say: "I am scared and paranoid to drive this car any where. I am afraid I'll be stranded somewhere bad." and determine the extent of repairs necessary are far, far more than the car is worth?

Well, you make that decision on a Friday afternoon when the darn thing keeps stalling and refusing to start while you run errands and forces you to miss a dinner get-together with some local mommy bloggers. (Sorry guys!)

Then, you grovel like you've never groveled before and make the big puppy-dog eyes and quiver the bottom lip just a bit until the Hubby says: "Okay! Okay! Let me do some searching." And he engages his magical computer powers and finds this:

at an incredible dealer/manufacturer incentive price and says "Do you want?"

And on Saturday afternoon you put the keys of your new truck into the ignition and drive it home with the biggest freakin' grin on your face EVER. And later, you drive your big 'ole black truck into town for ice cream because guess what? Driving is FUN again!

I have to admit I deeply love that picture of the old station wagon with the llamas on it. Brilliant, simply brilliant. Congrats on the new truck. It's very... big. and black. I bet it can hold a LOT of llamas!! ;)

That's freaking awesome. Way to go, Jenn. And way to go, hubby. You really came through in an apocalyptic way. That's going to be a memorable moment that makes her smile twenty years from now ... when that beautiful new truck might just start thinking about being ready for retirement.

Ninja,

Well, the truck she wanted was taller than everyone else's, bigger than everyone else's, with purple iridescent flames on the front (shooting up the hood and down the sides), had the Hemi, the industrial grade suspension, with the heavy duty tow package, the smiley face fog lamps above the cab, and had a horn that plays "Dukes of Hazzard", and gets 5 mph!

So, I asked her, "How are you going to pay for the gas for that thing?"

Her response, "Well, when we get a horse trailer in a couple of years, I'm trading this in and getting my dream truck!"

All I could do was chuckle. She got what she wanted, and I got what I wanted.

Hurray! There's nothing like getting a new vehicle! Enjoy it and post lots of pics of where you go in it.

Woo hoo! And I think I speak for all your readers, by saying that we all feel better knowing you have a dependable ride!

Now you can cover all kinds of stories out in the bush, too! (ya know, the bush areas they have in MO....oh, never mind)

Gramma..me too! And I feel much better hauling the girls around knowing the car isn't going to crap out.

Jenny...I LOVED that picture! The llamas cracked me up too. It is big, and black, and I like it a lot. Unruly LOVES it.

Ninja...it's the power of the quivering lip, it does it every time. Hubby is right, I didn't get the massive, gas-guzzling beefed-up muscle that I'd been drooling over, but I got a good, reliable, useful, needed pickup that I am VERY happy with. I love driving it.

Sona...I love getting a new vehicle. Except for the new payment every month..sigh.

Wendy..Thank you, I think Hubby feels better too, I know I do! I'll be doing some serious bush exploring now (hehe), and maybe some muddin' as well. Wait, no muddin', not yet, it's still clean and shiny!

Watch out for Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane ... he's gonna get him them Duke boys! Grab Daisy and Uncle Jesse and have them meet Cletus and Cooter at the Boar's Nest for a showdown with Boss Hogg!

Come visit me this weekend! You should always break in a new vehicle with a nice long road trip.

(P.S. Don't worry about having to politely decline my invitation. I know you can't make a trip like that in a weekend, and I would be pissed if you came here and left the next day!)

So does this mean I can use your llamas?

Lisa...boys like big trucks, but girls look better drivin' 'em. :P

Amy...you know if I could, I would. If you didn't live so gob-smackin' far away, we could do those weekend visits every month.

Casey...you can only have one llama. I'm going to train the rest to attack trespassers on command.
