Freakin'

This weather is really weirding me out. I'm kinda starting to believe in that whole "global warming" theory.

Today it's 60-degrees out. In Illinois. In January. And we are under a tornado watch. Usually we're under an ice storm warning this time of year and stocking up on bread, eggs, milk and ice melt at the grocery.

By this evening the temperature is expected to plummet to an more normal 17-degrees. And it's freaking me out. I want to go outside and bare my arms to the warm sun. I want to plant flowers and veggies.

Then I look at the calendar and I know I should be stocking up on more firewood and thinking about a big pot of chili or a pot roast.

This freaky weirdo weather has taken a toll on poor Unruly, too. Saturday she woke us up at 3 a.m. with an excruciating earache and a temp. I ran to the store (which is a 30 minute trip one way, I might add) at 6 a.m. for some Tylenol and eardrops. She slept most of the day. By Saturday night, she was fine and all day Sunday, fine.

On my way to work Monday I got a call from the school nurse about a 101-degree temp and a trickle of blood coming from Unruly's ear. I make the hour trip BACK to pick her up from school, then another 30 minute drive to pick up an antibiotic prescription for a severe ear infection. She stayed home again today, with the Hubster so I wouldn't have to take a second day off work. We're pretty good at sharing the stay-at-home-with-an-ailing-kid detail.

P.S. I replaced my watch. All is good in my world again.

Oh poor girl! I'm worried about getting sick. This weather is nuts. And I left my dog outside today because HI! 60 degrees! but little did I know what was coming...

I hope the little one is doing better. Raining and snowing here as usual. Enjoy the warmth while you can!

So sorry to hear about Unruly's ear infection. OUCH.

Hope she's feeling better soon.

And it IS wierd. Yesterday it was 70 degrees here and in a matter of three hours, the temp had dropped and it was snowing. Wild.

I don't think the warmth is all that bizarre for that area of Illinois. I remember several times there in the winter when it was warm enough for a short sleeve shirt over the last 17 years (wow. was it really that long ago since the first time I moved there? crap). I think it's "normal" for that area to have moments of loopy weather, global warming or not :)
Give Unruly a hug for me, and tell her I hope she feels better!

Our temperatures went from the 40s to well below zero, a more than 50-degree difference in just a few hours. It was NUTS.

Poor sweet girl!

60 degrees should be spring, but winter always comes back to bite you in the butt.

Wow, what a temperature change. I think I will try and be happy with our freezing weather becasue if it warmed up enough to melt the snow and warm the earth and I saw the rhubarb and the spring bulbs coming up and THEN it snowed, well, I would have to have counseling. Serious counseling.

Your new watch must not be telling you it has been days and days since we've seen you..... or is that a calendar's job? Do you have a new calendar? We miss you.
