A birds and bees lesson on the farm

Unruly and I were admiring my newly bloomed burgundy-colored sunflowers when we heard it.

A desperate, high-pitched, frantic QUACK! QUACK! QUACK! QUACK! Like someone, or something, was killing the poor little beast.

But Unruly, the smart kid she is, knew precisely what was going on.

"Oh no! The boy duck is on top of the girl duck again! I have to save her!"

And she rushed down the hill and into the woods where I'm assuming she "saved" the Little Brown Duck from big, mean Donald, an obscenely huge Pekin duck.

I keep thinking he'd taste mighty fine awash in rosemary and fresh butter and roasted just so with baby carrots, new potatoes and maybe some asparagus.

Mmmmm....duck....

But, I digress....

She ran back up the hill, flopped down at my feet, panting in the heat and looked up at me, brow sweaty, arms crossed.

"You know what, Mom? Boys are stupid."

Ahhh...that's my little girl!

Unruly needs to come take care of our neighbor's dogs, that poor girl dog could use her help.
